Talking to Dragons was designed for the One Page RPG Jam 2024, and serves as a basis for an upcoming RPG "Tales of Distant Lands" under development by Lategamer. Pop along there for more content, for scenario ideas and for Actual Play.

Talking to Dragons is a  standalone one-page tabletop RPG about wizards and their companions travelling the world, righting wrongs and maintaining the Equilibrium. It's heavily inspired by the world of Earthsea as described by Ursula K. Le Guin.

In "Talking to Dragons", wizards are capable of almost anything, depending on their courage and attitude towards risk. They will encounter real world problems as well as the predations of the Old Powers, Gebbeths and Dragons!

If I understand correctly, Magic needs 1-4 successes to work. how do you get more than 2 successes?

Top of the first page. You’re likely to be rolling two dice. If you score 6+ on one dice that’s one success. If you score 6+ on two dice that’s two successes.

If you score 10+ on one dice, you get 2 successes from that dice.

Hope that helps!

one dice for Stat and another for the Trade skill, got it

thanks :)

I’d have explained a lot more but there wasn’t a lot of room!

Hi  there! This looks great. Just a quick question, when the rules say +1 or -1, is it modifying the result of the roll, or the level of the die? For instance if you have +1 on a roll and roll a 4 on a d6, it the result 5? Or are you rolling a d8 and the +1 represents going up a die level? Thanks!

hi Dlybo22

You’re modifying the dice itself. Up a step or down a step. Not the result of the dice roll.
