The Novel
Hey folks,
Thanks for being part of this. As some of you may know, the "big sister" to Talking to Dragons is the Tales of Distant Lands RPG which is just starting layout (and proving to be a bit of a beast). Because of this, I started writing a novel to accompany the RPG. Chapters of the novel are available on the Patreon or on my Discord. It's based on the events of two of the playtests I ran with the game.
Tales of Distant Lands is not Earthsea but I can easily argue that it is the MOST Earthsea RPG ever made (and I've tried more than a few). In the novel, I'm not trying to emulate Le Guin, but to tell a story as it was told to the chanter who repeats it.
It's about a crumbling Noblebright realm which is failing due to poor leadership. It's about forces who have joined with the realm in order to undermine it and take it over. It's about three people from vastly different worlds being effectively exiled from their comfy homes and sent on a journey that may be the end of them. They'll explore distant lands, hear the tales of giants, tame the very darkness and eventually....talk to dragons.
